Orlando Mom Lands Top International Food Awards
Winning Sauces

With a prayer and slightly shaking hands, Guenet “Gigi” French
sent off her precious sauces to be judged by some of the
harshest critics in the world. She has done so not once or
twice, but 4 times now. And each time, the sauces she lovingly
created in her own kitchen landed top food awards.
French's start up My Last Dime
Gourmet, Inc. is turning heads nationally as it
has now
garnered 19 awards in
less than a year of operation.
Gigi began experimenting in her own
kitchen when she discovered that her sons had food
allergies. The stay-at-home mom had to become an expert food
label reader. It wasn't long before she banned the use of
questionable ingredients and preservatives from her pantry. It
was natural for the same concept to carry over when she formed
My Last Dime Gourmet, Inc. The
goal for her company, just like for her family, was to make
all-natural gourmet sauces with a unique flavor spin. Then the
awards started rolling in.
It started with the 2007 Fiery
Foods Competition (Chili Pepper magazine), then
continued with the prestigious Scovie Awards, and the
National BBQ Association all lavishing her line with award,
after award. Her initial offering, a superb Mango Lavender
Habenaro Sauce, won everywhere it was entered.
"If I were to say that I was
surprised we did so well against the giants of the industry in
so many different competitions, that would be a complete
understatement", gushed new-comer French, an industrious
stay-at-home mom and creator of the all-natural
condiment/sauce line.
My Last Dime Gourmet
then pushed production to
get the newest creation, a smoldering Raspberry Chipotle Sauce,
ready for the National Barbeque Association Awards of
Excellence. The extra effort paid off as the newest sauce
received 8 awards at this competition. Most recently, at
America's Best Foods Event in Anaheim CA., she did it
again with 4 silver medals. Add to that the Gold and Bronze
medals earned by Big Bad John's Lipsmackin’ Spice Rub
from the NBBQ Association, and you have an amazing entrance
into the market.
French
says that this has fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming an
entrepreneur. "The awards are one thing, but to get the thumbs
up from my biggest critics, my 4 and 7 year old boys, is an even
bigger high." The pint sized gourmets also get to help mom out
with the inner workings of the business. It's truly a family
affair.
